“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25 KJV
“Now that you’ve fortified your defensive line, are you ready to lead the charge? Not so fast! The role you are willing to take on has its own vulnerabilities and temptations. You would be wise to examine them so that you can be a victorious leader of your life, your family, and your ministry. Your enemy knows that the simplest way to defeat an approaching army is to separate the leader from his group. Do not allow it! Know your role, know your boundaries, stay connected to God and to your group, keep your shields up, and shake the gates of hell. Then watch with wonder as the Lord makes them fall . . . time and time again.” The above quote is from my professor, Dr. Anthony, who taught my “How To Prevent Ministry Failure” class.
The main and most effective strategy that Satan uses against us is separating us from our leader. If, the enemy can get us to doubt our leaders, question the leadership that God has put us under, and/or get us to go off course and be led astray then, he has already won half the battle. So many of us leave the church due to church hurt, disagreements with leadership about mandates, doctrine, and how the church is run and a multitude of things that are irrelevant, for the most part, concerning our salvation.
Yes, things happen in church and amongst the body of Christ that aren’t always right, ethical, nor according to the Word of God. However, before letting our first response involve leaving the church I believe we should pray and seek God’s face concerning the matter before making a hasty decision. I understand that we all have feelings and emotions but we must not allow our feelings and emotions to rule, reign, and override the Holy Spirit. When we do, we allow space for the enemy to enter in and sneak in unawares thereby giving him an opportunity to whisper lies in our ears, implant negative thoughts in our minds and impart evil and wickedness in our hearts by deceiving us.
Satan deceived Adam and Eve so he could certainly care less about us. Satan accuses us before God day and night (Romans 12:10 and 1 Timothy 4-13). He roams the earth looking for whom he can devour. But God said He would not have us ignorant to Satan’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11). The Bible instructs us not to forsake the assembly or gathering together of the Saints. So Saints of the Most of High God, I beseech you to stay connected to your leader, do not leave the church at the first sign of discomfort, don’t allow other people’s issues to become your issues and don’t let their opinions sway you and take you off course. This is all just one big distraction from Satan; the enemy of our souls. Talk to God about it and let Him be your Guide.
I enjoy movies with a meaning and a message, sitting in the park overlooking the water, and eating my favorite ice cream Heavenly Hash.
